Below are some new songs we have been singing at our church in Jacksonville. I thought I would share them. You can find them on iTunes (or Amazon.com) to download them. Most are also on YouTube.
“Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me)” – Casting Crowns
- This song is actually a more contemporary arrangement of a hymn. It starts with the birth of Christ and takes us all the way to the second coming of Christ. I really enjoy singing the Chorus of this song about the glorious return of Christ.
“Called By Your Name” – its on Joshua Spachts(Ekklessia Music) Album: “We Proclaim”
- A great song focusing on Christ plucking us from death, giving us life for the first time, and the implications of that on how we live.
“New Song We Sing” – Merideth Andrews
- This is a very joyful song. The content matches it’s pace as it focuses us on the joys of being a new creation in Christ.
“To The Cross” – Jadon Lavik
- This song captures the somber and humble approach to the cross which we should have in light of our shameful sin.
“All Because Of Jesus” – Casting Crowns
- This song is packed full of God’s glorious attributes. It allows us to focus on God’s glory, and delight in the life He has given us through Christ.
“Completely Done” – Sovereign Grace Music
- “The old is gone, the new has come, what You complete is completely done”. That first half of the chorus about sums it up. This song is saturated with assurance of salvation for believers in Christ.
I hope this is a good resource for you and your life of worship!
Ok, so I'm pretty excited. I will be officially be going to the WorshipGod 11 conference (put on by Sovereign Grace Music). Myself and my new pastor at GraceJax, Justin McKitterick, will be attending and I'm sure soaking in a bunch while we're out there.
If you are not familiar with the WorshipGod conferences, it is a great conference that Sovereign Grace Music puts on every other year. It is focused on mainly the music portion of worship, but also teaches great biblical truths on worship as a whole. All things taught are founded on solid biblical truths.
I would highly recommend this conference to anyone out there that has a hand in the corporate worship service. Click here for more information.
I plan on blogging each evening like I did with the Shepherds Conference with recaps and notes form my day, so stay tuned!
A dear friend of mine and her husband are currently preparing their home and hearts to adopt a baby girl due next month. The way my friend refers to this precious child is as if she is preparing to deliver herself. Even on her Facebook page, she was asked by a friend if she was having another baby because of the language she used when referring to her. She is simply overwhelmed with love for this little girl.
I’ve always found the adoption process amazing. To see how much love someone can have for a child who is not physically his or her own is nothing short of beautiful.
What these parents are doing is not just promising to take care of the physical needs of a child. They are promising to take these children into their homes and treat them as if they were never NOT a part of the family. They are now their sons and daughters.
What a beautiful example -though on a much smaller scale- we have of our position in Christ after salvation. Ephesians 1:5 says that we were predestined to be “adopted as sons through Jesus Christ.”
In 2009, songwriter Joel Sczebel was meditating on the doctrine of divine adoption when questions began to arise such as “How can this be? How have rebels come to be children of God?” The answer to all of these questions was simply the Father’s love for us.
Bob Kauflin just announced today that "Risen", the new Sovereign Grace Music Easter album, has arrived. It's awesome to see this ministry continue to put out such awesome and theologically accurate songs.
Listen to clips of this album in our "Recommended Albums" sidebar,
or purchase this album from Amazon through our "Recommended Albums" page (under "Resources")
Here's an excerpt from Bob's Worship Matters blog:
"Risen is our small attempt to encourage churches in all three areas. And it’s probably goes without saying that just as songs about the incarnation aren’t just for Christmas and songs about the cross aren’t just for Good Friday, so songs about the resurrection aren’t just for Easter. The gospel falls apart unless Jesus Christ was actually raised from the dead."
Sovereign Grace Ministries will be holding a conference called "Plant" which is specifically geared towards those involved, or wanting to get involved in starting up a church somewhere.
Click here for the full scoop on this conference if you are interested.
"If you’re part of a church plant or think you might one day participate in one, I think you should consider coming to Plant!" – Bob Kauflin, Sovereign Grace Ministries
"How wonderful the Father's love, the Father's love for us!"
…and I'm not sure who "Pleasant Valley Community Church" is…
"The old is gone, the new has come! What You complete, is completely done!"
"I have a shelter in the storm, when troubles pour upon me…Oh Jesus I will hide in You…"
